Do you Blog?

Do you Blog? A Blog Post can be a personal diary, a project collaboration tool, a guide or any means of communicating and publishing information on the web. Blogging and posting relevant content is an incredibly useful tool to increase traffic to your website and to your services. That helps with SEO immensely because it gives Google and other search engines a reason to re-crawl your website to find new content to index.

You may wish to write about a walk you had with family and friends, a recipe you tried, a new workout or you may wish to promote a new service or product. You can write about anything. Everyone is doing it… be it for work or as a hobby.

I published the article you are now reading on my business website and I have shared this article on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest…) as well as announced it on my Newsletter. Last night I published a blog post to my fitness website and since my fitness website is also linked to social media, the blog gets automatically shared on social media as well.

You can post directly to social media or even better post your article to your own website first and let your WordPress website share your article to social media.

Over 30% of all websites are created on WordPress. WordPress is by far the largest web-building tool available.

If you already have a WordPress website or are thinking of creating one these are the basics you need:

The free-version WordPress or the self-hosting (paid version) WordPress

On the free-version you are provided with many important plugins by default. The self-hosting (i.e the paid version) is better because you can install as many plugins as you need. The free-version is ideal to get you started.

There are 3,500+ free themes for WordPress. Of these, 1,166 themes are available with language packs. There are also many themes available for purchase from third-party vendors. WordPress.com themselves launch themes regularly. Every year, towards the end of the year they launch the WordPress 202.. theme. So at the end of 2020 they will be launching the 2021 theme and so on and so forth…

WordPress 2012, 2013… 2015, 2016.. were all very good. I used the WordPress 2014 theme for 5 years and I was very happy with this theme. I recently changed to the Astra because this new theme offers many important additional features.

The Gutenberg editort also known as the Block editor was launched in early 2019. You can still use the old Classic editor but don’t… The Gutenberg Block editor offers so many features you will be wondering why you ever used the Classic editor.

There are so many incredibly useful plugins in the repository of WordPrerss.org. The majority of plugins for WordPress are free.

If you wan to go the extra mile when creating blog posts I would recommend you install and setup the plugin: ‘Ultimate Addons for Gutenberg’.

Whether you are creating a blog post such as this one which is aimed at conveying information to existing Clients and potential Clients or you are creating a blog post as a hobby such as the one I published yesterday ‘The Kensington Jacaranda Walk 2020‘ it is important that you get started as soon as you can.

Much success!

Look forward to your comment
